The Crippler Preparing for Jason MacDonald at UFC 66

Chris how has your training been going for the upcoming fight against Jason MacDonald? Training has been going great. I have been splitting my time between Team Quest (Portland, OR) and AMC Pankration (Seattle, WA) with Matt Hume. Training camp has never been better! Where and who have you been training with? Answered above! I break my day up into 4 sessions. Cardio in the mornings, full contact sparring before lunch, strength training in the afternoon, and finally jiu-jitsu/ grappling at night! Are you training any differently for MacDonald than your other fights in the UFC? I have been preparing for Macdonald like any other opponent. I try to maximize my learning and get my body at peak performance for every fight! Chris The Crippler Leben Can you explain what a day of training has consisted of preparing for this fight? There are many people upset, including myself that you have not fought on PPV. How does it feel to be fighting on PPV for the first time? You know it really makes no difference for me. A fight is fight and I really only focus on the fight and nothing else. Although, I am very excited to fight on the big show! It was always a dream of mine to fight on the PPV and finally that day has come! What has your diet consisted of preparing for this fight? I try to stick to lean food, raw greens, lean meats, and lots of rest! What type of supplements do you utilize, while training? Can you explain when you use them too. i.e. Pre or Post Workout. This would be best to be filled out by Supplements To Go! It would sound a lot better if filled in by a professional! How do you feel going into this fight? What do you believe your strengths and weaknesess are? I feel incredible. I really feel good going into this fight. I feel my game is well rounded at this point and do not have too many weakness’. If I do have weakness’, it is Jason’s job to try and find them! Did you begin training immediately after your impressive victory over Santiago? I took a couple weeks off after that fight and then got back to training. I needed a break after that fight. Did not take too much time off the after the Silva fight. I fought Anderson Silva and Jorge Santiago in less than 3 months. I was due for a break to say the least! You have been extremely dangerous in the UFC Middleweight Division. Do you believe you will be Title Contentions with a victory over MacDonald? I believe I am always ready to fight for the title but I also think I need a year to continue grooming before I challenge for the belt! I am young and am in no hurry. My day will come, that is certain! Chris, do you believe the Ultimate Fighter Reality Show was a positive experience and help you improve as a fighter? It was a great experience. I put me on the fast track to mainstream exposure. I think without I would still have shined but it definitely gave me a boost! Being on national television in front of millions for 13 weeks is always a good thing! What was your most memorable moment on the show? There was more than one. I would not be fair to pick just one. It felt like we taped that show for years! You have made an impressive mark in Professional MMA, at what point in your life did you believe this would be your career and why? I decided the first day I started training that I would one day become a world champion. I knew that if this is what I was going to do for a living that I needed to be the best in order to have the success I aspired! What do you enjoy most about being a Professional MMA Fighter? I enjoy the competitive aspect, and of course the money and the lifestyle isn’t bad! With training several week for a bout, how do you prepare the week of the fight? Lots of relaxation and weight cutting. I really tone down training on the last week and focus on the fight in front of me and preparing myself mentally. Chris, if a person was watching you fight for the first time, how would you describe your fighting style to them? I would describe it as a real dog FIGHT! I go out there to fight and finish my opponent. Primarily looking for a knockout at all times. I swing fast and hard and if you stand in front of me long enough, you are bound to get knock out. I am a very technical fighter but I bring a lot of aggression as well! I am a finisher, which is always a treat for the fans! Look for lots of action in any of my fights! What UFC Fighter has inspired you the most? That’s a tough one. I draw a lot of inspiration from guys like Randy Couture and my current coach (Matt Hume). Those are the types of guys that have paved the road for someone like myself. How did you obtain the nickname "The Crippler"? I got it on the reality show (TUF 1). I was telling people that I was going to cripple my opponents. Eventually someone started calling me the crippler and that name just stuck. It has grown on me! With many key moments in your professional career, what has been the most memorable? Wow, that’s a tough one. I have quite a few. Beating Benji Radach (broken jaw) wasn’t too bad! Chris, I would like to thank you for your time. We here at SupplementsToGo are extremely excited to have you part of our team and cannot wait until Saturday Night to see you in action again. Good Luck!! View More Information on Chris Leben
