Many women believe that lifting weight cause them to build muscle like men. Though some women desire this, this is highly unlikely. The reason why men are able to be so muscular is because they have a high amount of testosterone, women have estrogen. In fact too much estrogen in women can hamper women’s workouts and slow down the effects in the gym.

 

A thing that women need to think about is that weight lifting burns more calories faster than basic cardio. The reason why weight lifting burns more calories is because muscles need calories to develop and recover. Cardio uses less muscle mass and will not use as many calories to recover. Incorporating a workout that uses both weights and cardio is probably most suitable for women.

 

Here are three little tips to burn calories and being fit.

1)      Boost Metabolism in the Morning. This can change for each woman but remember that boosting the metabolism gets the rest of the day started on a better note. This can be as simple as drinking a black cup of coffee to walking for 10 min or maybe do both. Also eating certain foods in the morning can help increase the metabolism. A mixture of fruit, protein and greek yogurt can help give you energy and improve the metabolism.

2)      Do circuit training. Circuit training are what many classes use at the gym, it should consist of weights and cardio. Like it is mentioned above this will burn more calories, and not make you bulky. I know a few women who put on muscle fairly easily, but this doesn’t mean that every woman is like that. Most women have a difficult time building muscle, and the benefits of using weights are far better than just cardio.

3)      Sleep! Sleep is very important and often forgotten of its value. Getting 8 hours of sleep a night helps maintain proper hormones and allows the body to recovery. If you notice that you are often tired, and lack motivation to make it to the gym, try to go to bed earlier.
