Quest Bars – A Healthy And Delicious Protein Bar?

Written by thebigphil. Posted in Articles, Nutrition, Protein

I’m sure we have all tried many different protein bars …and they are usually disgusting. Sometimes chocolate can mask the flavor a bit, but if you eat them every day, sometimes you really gotta choke them down. I have found a few protein bars that tasted pretty good, but they were loaded with fats, sugars, and carbs. So, I have been on the look-out for the protein bar I could actually enjoy that also had quality ingredients.

Quest Bars

Wondering which are the best protein bars? I finally found an awesome protein bar- Quest bar. They are healthy, delicious and are low-carb with a lot of protein. Most protein bars have a ton of fat and calories because they were made to be energy bars. Thankfully, I can get all the protein I need without adding all that fat and sugar. Quest bars have two different lines and the differences are between flavors and sweetener: the natural line and the 99.95% natural line. The later uses sucralose, but the all natural line uses stevia! Stevia is completely natural and one of the healthiest sweeteners in existence.

I have been waiting years for a company to use this sweetener in their protein products. The wait is over and I am very happy these bars exist. Other good thing about these  bars is that they have high fiber content. This helps keep you feeling full after you eat one. Also, some of the protein comes from nuts, so it includes multi-protein sources. They are gluten-free too!

In summary I would highly recommend these bars because:

• Delicious and a lot of flavors to try

• Low-carb & no sugar

• High & healthy amount of protein

• Keep you full (high fiber)

Quest bar is probably the best protein bar on the market, if you want high protein and low carbs packed into a delicious bar. If you haven’t already, you should really try them. If you like coconut, I’d recommend trying the coconut cashew, Mmm mmm!

MuscleTech Anabolic Halo Performance Series

Written by bigredhulk. Posted in Articles, Muscle Builders, Protein, Reviews, Supplements, Videos

The New formula of Anabolic Halo is finally here. If you liked the old formula that left a cool refreshing taste in your mouth, sorry but the new formula does not do that. What it does accomplish is providing  muscle fuel for full muscle recovery.  The new MuscleTech Anabolic Halo Performance Series is the ultimate all-in-one muscle shake.

If you are a supplement junky and are tired of having to swallow down a massive amount of supplements through the day, Anabolic Halo was designed for you. Anabolic Halo Performance Series is designed to help improve muscle recovery, load muscles with proper amino acids, and load muscles with carbohydrates and creatine after a workout. Anabolic Halo also has 40 grams of protein that ranges from fast to low metabolizing.

Let us take a deeper look into the New Anabolic Halo Performance Series. This product covers all the muscle building stages that are needed. There are three critical things that need to happen to build muscle rapidly.

The new Anabolic Halo Formula contains key amino acids, creatine and Tart Cherry for optimal muscle recovery.

-          Amino Acids: Anabolic Halo Performance Series contain a high dosage of Glutamine and Glutamic Acid, along with a 2:1 ratio of BCAAs. This combination will help aid in faster muscle recovery along with better nitrogen retention. Having sustained nitrogen retention can help improve muscle recovery.

-          Creatine: A full serving of Anabolic Halo offers 5 grams of Creatine Monohydrate. This is great for mid day creatine load before a evening workout, or drinking directly after a workout to help restore muscle and help them recover faster.

-          Tart Cherry: The first protein blend / muscle shake to offer Tart Cherry. Tart Cherry is thought to be a super antioxidant. Antioxidants help fight oxidative stress and free radicals that the body increases in during and after a workout.

To truly replenish muscles it is important to replenish glycogen cells and load them with the nutrients they need. Anabolic Halo Performance Series does this by:

-          Carbohydrates: Many people forget the value of consuming healthy carbohydrates. Consuming carbohydrates after a difficult workout can help increase protein absorption as well as replenish the muscle fibers. Also, using carbohydrates before a workout can help load glycogen cells, so that the body may be able to more muscle and increase in strength.

-          Creatine: A great recovery agent, Creatine is also well known for helping replenish muscles after a workout. Consuming creatine after a workout replenishes the muscle when taken with a carbohydrate.

-          Electrolytes: When was the last time you saw a protein mix that contained electrolytes? It seems like such a simple thing, and yet it is often skipped for many post workout protein drinks.

Final Thoughts on MuscleTech Anabolic Halo Performance Series

The New Anabolic Halo Performance Series is a great post workout shake and mid day muscle recovery shake. I know that they do not want to put a certain label on what kind of ‘shake’ it is but truly it is designed to help recover, which is important to building muscle and getting stronger. If you are less than 180lbs taking one scoop a day is fine, if you are above 180lbs you will need to be taking two scoops a day. This product can save people some money because it is reasonably priced and offers a lot for each serving.

Bsn Supplements

Have you tried BSN?

It all started in Boca Raton, Florida. The year was 2001 and a company had one goal in mind: to formulate and distribute the most advanced sports nutrition products in the world. BSN is currently one of the biggest supplement companies in the United States. Many people remember the sparkly red containers that talked about increasing muscle pumps and being the first true pre workout (NO Xplode) that transformed the supplement game. BSN Supplements has continued to grow and become even bigger than they had imagined. BSN  stands on being innovative and never duplicated. Since 2005, BSN supplements has won over 40 consumer-voted nutrition awards, which is more than any other brand in the industry. BSN Supplements remains devoted to their core values and has become a global company since 2001. Here is a detailed look into their four newest products on the market: EvoTest, Aromavex, CellMass 2.0, and Syntha 6 Isolate.

The Best BSN Supplements

Testosterone is what makes a man tick. The moment testosterone levels lower, is the moment when the body begins to feel a little sluggish. Using natural testosterone support can be an effect way to regulate testosterone and other hormones, while lifting. EvoTest is BSN supplements  first ever testosterone concentrate. BSN Evotest is a safe and natural way to help raise testosterone levels while trying to live a healthy life style. The main ingredient in EvoTest is D-Aspartic Acid. D-Aspartic Acid or DAA has been shown to help raise testosterone levels up to 30%, which is a safe amount. DAA works naturally by stimulating the testes to increase in free testosterone production. EvoTest uses other supporting ingredients to help naturally increase testosterone levels. Users will notice an increase in libido, metabolism, and a better sense of well being – these are all positives to healthy testosterone levels.

When it comes to hormone regulation it isn’t always about having high testosterone levels. Some men may have too high of estrogen levels, which can cause fat storage, a slow metabolism and a low libido. Eradicating estrogen is not the best way to go about regulating it. BSN Aromavex was designed to be taken in combination with EvoTest and/or hyper FX, but it works well as a standalone. If you have played with synthetic hormones in your past, or have had a poor diet and a lack of exercise the majority of your life you may suffer from high estrogen levels. Estrogen is the female hormone but is converted in the man’s body due to certain circumstances. Using a product like Aromavex can help regulate the estrogen hormone by decreasing its conversion rate and encouraging an increase in free testosterone production. Men can use Aromavex if they want to naturally increase testosterone and decrease estrogen, the results of this may be a leaner harder physique, a better mood, and strength.

CellMass 2.0

BSN Cellmass was one of the most popular products for BSN, so why change the formula? Well, modern science has given stronger evidence to other ingredients for recovery, and BSN supplements is responding to the science. CellMass 2.0 is a concentrated recovery agent that is loaded with state of the art ingredients. CELLMASS 2.0’s completely redesigned formula delivers three forms of creatine as well as glutamine, taurine and hydrolyzed whey protein to replenish fatigued muscles and kick-start the recovery process after a workout. The old CellMass was good for building size, but the new CellMass 2.0 offers size and strength. The new formula helps to replenish muscles faster and fuels your body with what it needs after a strenuous workout.

Syntha 6 Isolate

Unlike the CellMass, BSN is not replacing Syntha-6 but adding more to the family. Syntha-6 is a great mid day and before bed shake, but you need something that has more rapid absorption after a workout. Syntha 6 Isolate uses whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate (a high-quality source of slow-digesting casein), the formula’s unique ISOLAST™ protein matrix delivers a mix of fast- and slow-release proteins that promotes a moderately-paced release of amino acids to fuel active muscles. This new formula retains the amazing flavors of the original Syntha 6. Use Syntha 6 Isolate between meals to help boost retain nitrogen retention, or drink right after a workout.

New BSN Product Review

Though BSN Supplements started from humble beginnings in 2001, you can know see why they are so popular. BSN is proud of being more innovative than other big name brand companies all the while holding to their ethics in making quality products.

Protein – Whey vs. Casein

Written by thebigphil. Posted in Articles, Nutrition, Protein, Supplements

Not all proteins are equal, and understanding how each protein functions can help people reach their goals quicker. There are a variety of proteins on the market that consist of slow releasing to fast absorption and ones that are easier on the digestive system than others. Today we will be discussing the differences between whey and casein protein. These two protein sources are very helpful in muscle development, and can really improve one’s body physique if used correctly.

Whey protein has three different varieties that work slightly different than the rest. We will be reviewing from fastest to slowest absorption and why each one is important.

Hydrolyzed Whey: This form of whey is the fastest absorbing whey protein on the market. It has to be broken down to the point where your body spends little time breaking it down before it gets into the system. This type of protein is great to sip on before and during a workout. It also should not cause too much of an upset stomach because of its easy digestibility.

Whey Isolate: For a long time this form of protein was viewed as the highest standard, but as science in protein improved, it has moved into to second for being the second fastest form of whey protein. This protein is great for after workouts and helps to load the muscles with amino acids. It takes about 30 minutes to fully impact the muscles, and is very popular for post workout shakes. It usually mixes very easily and has little impact on creating stomach problems.

Whey Concentrate: This form is the slowest of the whey proteins but this does not mean that it is not important. Whey concentrate is great for morning protein shakes and pre workouts. Drinking whey concentrate in the morning helps to boost metabolism and will take about an hour to fully absorb. Also, drinking whey concentrate about an hour before a workout helps to increase nitrogen retention, which may help to create a better pump before a workout.

Many companies use all three proteins in their protein powders to help give a good blend of fast to slow releasing whey protein. Usually if the ingredients listing shows one protein before the other it means that it has a higher dosage than the rest, but this isn’t always the case. You will notice that most protein powders that use Hydrolyzed protein and have it as their first ingredient, which the protein tends to be more expensive.

Now on to Casein protein, this form of protein also derives from milk, like whey but it consist of 80% of the milk. Casein was first used during the process of making cheese. As milk is separated Casein begins to seep to the bottom as whey will gradually float to the top. Casein is used as an extended release protein source. The reason why this is important is that it helps to extend the amount of time your muscles are being fueled amino acids. Taking casein for a mid day snack and before bed will help boost metabolism and increase muscle recovery. When looking into buying casein make sure to buy micellar casein protein. This form of protein is the purest of casein and is what is recommended for all users.

Hopefully you can now make an astute decision while shopping for protein. Protein is important for building muscle, weight management and improving fitness goals. Anyone can improve their diet by including protein, because it is a simple and easy way to fuel the body with energy.

Whey vs. Casein

Syntha-6 5lbs

Written by thebigphil. Posted in Protein, Reviews, Supplements

Protein supplements are very popular, and are in high demand, but understanding what these different proteins do can help you achieve your fitness goals. Today we are going to be looking at one of the hottest protein powders on the market. Though it is not a whey protein powder it really is a very positive protein source that will improve muscle development.

Syntha-6 was one of the first proteins to come out with a whey, casein and egg protein blend. Each protein source is very important to recovery and muscle development, but they all work very differently.

Whey Protein

– One of the most essential proteins to have in the arsenal, whey protein is a fast absorbing protein source that is high in EAA’s. Whey protein is important to have right after a workout and early in the morning. As a post workout protein shake it helps to load the muscles with amino acids, and taking it early in the morning revs up the muscles to get moving for the rest for the day.

– a long lasting protein that can reach up to 8 hours can be shown to help increase positive nitrogen retention. The way that casein works, is that it creates a gel like state in the colon and gradually releases amino acids into the body. This is great to keep the metabolism going and improve recovery time.

– one of the original protein sources of protein powders, egg protein is a very important protein source because of its high EAA and gradual release or protein in to the body. Egg protein only takes about 3 to 4 hours to release in the body, but because it is high in EAA’s it is actually very beneficial to be taking this morning and pre workout.

Syntha-6 is a high quality protein source that helps fueal the body and develops muscles. Not only is it a great protein source it is also taste great.
